MACRON, THE LOUDEST RESISTER IN EUROPE (SO FAR)
The newly-elected French president is not hiding his disdain for 45. This week he urged America’s scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and “responsible citizens” who oppose 45’s assault on the environment to move to France. “Come here and work with us,” he said. “Make our planet great again.”
WEBLOOMBERG, U.N. SPECIAL ENVOY ON CITIES & CLIMATE
The former New York mayor has committed up to $15 million to help implement 2015 Paris Agreement climate change commitments. “Americans will honor and fulfill the Paris Agreement by leading from the bottom up,” Bloomberg said, adding that 45 cannot stop us from reaching emissions reductions goals the U.S. made in Paris in 2015.
WETHE WINNER OF THE NATIONAL SPELLING BEE
Fresh off her win of the National Spelling Bee, champion Ananya Vinay is asked by the hosts of CNN to spell the word “covfefe.” She asks what it means.
WE 78-YEAR OLD RESISTANCE LEADER MAXINE WATERS
Maxine Waters (D-CA) entered politics in 1976. During her second term in Congress, in 1994, after watching Peter King (R-NY) badger a female aide during hearings, Waters said to King, “You are out of order. Shut up.” Once 45 moved into the White House, Waters ratcheted up her activism, earning the well-deserved title Patron Saint of Resistance Politics.

A typical 8th grade trip to the nation’s Capitol turned into a moment of resistance, when students refused to pose for a photo with House Speaker Paul Ryan. “I can’t take a picture with someone who supports a budget that would destroy public education and would leave 23 million people without healthcare,” said 8th grader Matthew Malespina. Someone did his homework before the school trip!
WERESISTANCE CANDIDATES ON A ROLL IN DOWN-BALLOT RACES
Yes, a reporter-punching Republican bully won the latest Senate race. But Democrats are on a winning streak in down-ballot races across the country, where the GOP doesn’t spend zillions of dollars in an effort to defeat them. Resistance candidates have quietly flipped seats in Long Island, New Hampshire, Jackson, Mississippi, and more. Go team, Go!
WE THESE TITANS OF INDUSTRY RESISTERS
CEOs wasted no time responding to 45’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. Dozens of high-profile leaders publicly denounced the action, including the CEOs of Tesla, Google, Disney, Apple, Facebook, and IBM. The CEO of General Motors even weighed in, announcing, “GM will not waver from our commitment to the environment and our position on climate change has not changed.”

Bad News: Two men were killed and another severely injured in Portland, Oregon after intervening when a train passenger began shouting anti-Muslim slurs at two young women. Good News: The response to the hate crimes by the Muslim community.
