THIS RECAP OF STUNNINGLY HORRIBLE TWO WEEKS IN 45’s WH
Just two weeks ago, GOP lawmakers were celebrating over beers on the WH lawn, after having passed an overhaul of Obamacare. Then in one dizzyingly bad decision after another, starting with Comey’s firing, continuing with an invitation to the Russian foreign minister to meet in the Oval Office so that he could pass classified info to his BFF, and ending who knows where, 45 continues to demonstrate that the depth of his self-destructive behavior knows no bounds. Bad News for 45 is Good News for us.
WEGOP LEADER TELLING COLLEAGUES IN 2016 “PUTIN PAYS TRUMP”
In 2016, shortly before 45 won the nomination, GOP majority leader Kevin McCarthy confessed to a roomful of his colleagues that he thought 45 was on Putin’s payroll. Paul Ryan was in that room, and recognized the enormity of what had just been said. In a stunning display of GOP leadership, Ryan told McCarthy to shut up, and made everyone who’d heard him take a vow of secrecy. “No leaks. . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

Student activism is back. After listening to Mike Pence deliver yesterday’s graduation speech – platitudes mixed with a rant against political correctness on college campuses – Notre Dame students turn their backs on him and walk out.
WEWH LAWYERS SUDDENLY RESEARCHING “IMPEACHMENT”
Be still our beating hearts? CNN learned that lawyers in the White House counsel’s office have started doing research on how impeachment proceedings work. Better safe than sorry!

There’s a Draft Al Franken for President movement, but the Senator says he’s not running. What he does say is that it’s really, really difficult to produce the perfect cover for your new book.
WE WEST WING STAFF SCRAMBLING TO HIRE PERSONAL LAWYERS
No one knows how the Russia story will play out, but what’s certain is that more than a few lawyers are going to profit handily from all of the upcoming subpoenas and grand jury summons. Maintaining reputations and staying out of jail come at a heft price: D.C. defense attorneys charge up to $1,500 per hour — a price tag certainly out of reach for many on 45’s staff. (We’ll let you know when it’s time to pull out those violins).
WE SENATE OBSTACLES TO DISMANTLING OBAMACARE
Time is ticking, the GOP is splintering, the budget has not been passed, and everyone in Washington is fixated on the Russia investigations. Yes, the Senate could take an axe to Obamacare, but it’s not likely to happen anytime soon.
